Workflow

The fourth meeting of the Canon Owners of the Bay Area (COBA) user group will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) from 7:45-11:00 pm.

The June meeting will be covering Workflow. COBA members are encouraged to list their best practices for handling images once the shutter button is pressed. If you want to make a contribution to the meeting, please bring a list that answers the following questions:

Workflow

What platform are you on? Examples include Linux, MacOS (9 or X), or Windows.
How do you transfer your images from your camera to your computer? Examples include PC Card Adapter, USB Card Reader, FireWire Card Reader, or direct connect.

  1. What image management software do you use (if any)? Examples include iView MultiMedia Pro and ACDSee.
  2. Do you rename your images? If so, what software do you use and what format are the renamed files in? Examples include shooting date, sequential order, etc.
  3. What software do you use to edit your images? What are the things you do most to your images, such as levels and curves adjustments, sharpening, or color balancing?
  4. Do you tag your image files with ICC Color Profiles? If so, what software do you use?
  5. Do you upload your images to the web? If so, what software or web site do you use?
  6. Do you print your images? If so, what printer do you use and what software?
  7. How do you archive your images? Examples include CD-RW, CD-R, DVD-R, or to a hard drive.
