Concert Photography

The May meeting of the Camera Owners of the Bay Area (COBA) user group will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) from 7:30-10:30 pm.

Concert/Performance Photography

I’ll be giving a presentation concert and performance photography, focusing specifically on equipment, tips, and techniques for shooting in low-light, no flash environments. Photos taken during singer-songwriter Vienna Teng’s East Coast Tour will be displayed and discussed. For more information, please visit:

Show and Tell: Camera Accessories and Equipment

It’s member participation night at COBA! Bring your favorite camera accessory to demonstrate and be ready to explain why you can’t possibly live without it! Presentations should be short (under 5 minutes) and be prepared to answer any questions that may arise.

Examples include your favorite:

  • Tripod
  • Ballhead
  • Light meter
  • Lens
  • Dust remover
  • Memory card
  • Memory card reader or image bank device
  • Camera bag
  • Backup camera

Tips and Tricks

We will continue to have a small presentation on tips and techniques for
improving your photography skills. See the COBA forum for more information on
the tips and tricks we’ll cover in this presentation.

Photo Showcase

Members are also encouraged to bring in their favorite photographs that they’ve taken with their digital camera. Please write down your shooting technique and compositional notes on the back of the image or on a separate piece of paper. This is an excellent opportunity to receive constructive criticism, suggestions, and praise from other COBA members.
