Printing Shootout and Camera Accessories

The June meeting of the Camera Owners of the Bay Area (COBA) user group will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) from 7:30-10:30 pm.

Printing Shootout

Time to test out all of our printers on some sample images. I have posted three recently shot images from my EOS-1D. We are looking to analyze the following variables:

  • Printer
  • Inks
  • Paper
  • Post-Processing techniques
  • Composition

Please visit the following web page for the images:

Feel free to clean up, modify, and crop these images to your liking before printing. Furthermore, if you have other images that you want to showcase, do bring them to the meeting.

Show and Tell: Camera Accessories and Equipment

It’s member participation night at COBA! Bring your favorite camera accessory to demonstrate and be ready to explain why you can’t possibly live without it! Presentations should be short (under 5 minutes) and be prepared to answer any questions that may arise.

Last month, Jean demonstrated his new light meter, Karl showed off his angle view finder, clamp tool, and camera extender, Chung demoed the Gripper, Steve displayed his sensor cleaner, and I pulled out my trusty LED keychain light. What will you bring this month?

Examples include your favorite:

  • Tripod
  • Ballhead
  • Light meter
  • Lens
  • Dust remover
  • Memory card
  • Memory card reader or image bank device
  • Camera bag
  • Backup camera

Tips and Tricks

We will continue to have a small presentation on tips and techniques for
improving your photography skills. See the COBA forum for more information on
the tips and tricks we’ll cover in this presentation.

Photo Showcase

Members are also encouraged to bring in their favorite photographs that they’ve taken with their digital camera. Please write down your shooting technique and compositional notes on the back of the image or on a separate piece of paper. This is an excellent opportunity to receive constructive criticism, suggestions, and praise from other COBA members.
