Organizing Your Photos
The August meeting of the Camera Owners of the Bay Area (COBA) user group will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) from 7:30-10:30 pm.
Note we will start the presentations at 7:45 pm instead of our usual 8:00 pm. Please try to arrive on time to avoid missing any of the presentations!
Organizing Your Photos
This month’s presentations will cover software for cataloging and organizing one’s photo collection. We will cover applications for users of Macintosh, Windows, and Linux/Un*x computer systems. Featured presenters include:
Roger Meike of Pixlabs
Roger will demonstrate his product for Windows-based computers, digital photo utilities (DPU).
For the professional or serious amateur, digital photo utilities is a simple, yet powerful set of functions that help you get the most out of your digital photographs. The utilities work through a simple drag and drop interface. Whether you need to process one image or a whole folder, just drag your images files onto the appropriate button and the corresponding action will be carried out on your images. These utilities can be chained together to create sets of commonly used functions. The program is based on a plug-in that allows the utilities to grow over time.
This is NOT yet another picture viewer or editor. digital photo utilities is a new program that makes managing your digital photos as easy a drag and drop. It’s the power of batch processing with the ease of use of a graphical user interface.
Alex King
Alex will demonstrate photos, a web based application for managing (storing, cataloging and retrieving) digital photos.
iView Media Pro
For Macintosh users, we’ll take a look at a couple of software packages for organzing your photos, including iPhoto and iView Media Pro.
Tips and Tricks
We will continue to have a small presentation on tips and techniques for
improving your photography skills. See the COBA forum for more information on
the tips and tricks we’ll cover in this presentation.
Photo Showcase
Members are also encouraged to bring in their favorite photographs that they’ve taken with their digital camera. Please write down your shooting technique and compositional notes on the back of the image or on a separate piece of paper. This is an excellent opportunity to receive constructive criticism, suggestions, and praise from other COBA members.
