Matting and Framing
The November 2004 meeting of the Camera Owners of the Bay Area (COBA) user group will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) from 7:30-10:30 pm.
Our final meeting of 2004 (there will not be a December meeting) will feature Edan Lee, who will give a presentation on matting and framing. The following topics will be covered:
Frames
- Types of frames
- Glazing (Anti-glare, glass, plastic/acrylic)
Matting Basics
- Different types of mats
- Things to look for in mats (i.e. archival material, etc.)
- Mat cutting tools
- How to measure your mats
- How to cut mats (i.e. hand mat cutter or larger machine cutter)
- Where to buy mats & frames for cheap/expensive
Printing
- What paper works best
- How large to print for a given frame/mat size
If you have tools for matting and framing photos, please bring them to the meeting. Also, if you want to try your hand at framing your own prints, be sure to bring your photos, frames, and mats to the meeting!
